Start your day with a guided walk through the medieval courtyards of Haarlem. The borough of Harlem in New York was named after this typical old Dutch town. Nowadays Haarlem is known for its nice shopping area. Haarlem's most famous painter was Frans Hals, another talented 17th century Dutch master. His best known painting is called "The Happy Drinker".
The beautiful countryside route takes you from Haarlem to the Keukenhof flower gardens where the colourful fields of flowers will take your breath away. The Keukenhof garden is the worlds largest display of flowers, including a wide variety of tulips (more than 700), orchids, daffodils, hyacinths and crocuses. More than 7 million flowers are planted on this 32 hectares ( 80 acres) each year.
